My daily workout has mostly been running on the beach sand, but 50-miles per week of this over five years has worn out my Achilles tendons. I wanted to substitute swimming for running, but my apartment building's pool is to small and shallow for laps, and my local health club's pool is always too crowded and a hassle. I was skeptical of this device upon first discovering it, but a LA County lifeguard mentioned to me that he knew of university swim team coaches that hand these out to their team members before summer break, so they can stay in shape wherever they go.

I have been using this for a couple of months, and it has been working great for me, and has definitely been worth the price. Everyone who has seen me using it in our apartment building's pool asked where they can get one.

One caveat: for it to work for me, I had to attach a mountain climbing hook to it, so the end of it can be attached to the pool ladder. Basically, I wrap the bungee once around... Read more

I purchased this belt so that I could swim in my building's pool, which is just long enough to make you want to swim laps and just short enough to make you dizzy when you do so. I've owned the belt for a few months now and for the most part, it's a great way to "swim" when you don't have access to open water or a long enough pool.

Pros:
- It's comfortable--I've had no irritation when swimming constantly for up to an hour.
- It's reliable--the strap has never come undone during a swim; the clip & tether are study*
- It's small enough so that it can be packed during travel for use in hotel pools.
- It doesn't cost a whole lot.

Cons:
- Does not replicate the "feel" of regular swimming (explanation below)
- Fraying around elastic at the end of the tether after ~10 uses (repairable if it breaks)*

So, for experienced swimmers--which I am not--who have not tethered, this thing is going to make you feel like your feet are... Read more

I've used a product like this for years and really like it. Great strength training! Regarding the previous review that it's hard to attach, actually it's easy. Wrap the cord around any object, like a ladder rung, and run the belt through the loop.
