Normally, I really like Speedo products, but this one missed the mark. Judging from reviews of other speedo fins, they seem to have a strange idea of the size and shape of people's feet. These are no different, and seem to be worse. The fit for my shoe size was very tight 'high up' on the foot, and very loose 'lower down' (low=toward the toes). At first, I thought this was ok, but using them in the pool was a different story.

The problem is that they only really touch your feet toward the opening of the hole, so it concentrates the force of the kick too high on your foot, resulting in a very un-relaxed foot and ankle during the kick. The fact, too, that the main point of contact with the foot is so small and in such an odd place makes the kick feel strangely uncontrolled as well. They also don't seem to catch the water as well as ordinary traning fins. Using normal training fins, my feet and ankles always felt great afterwards, but after using these for a Master's... 5.0 out of 5 stars wow talk about fast! (and hard), October 18, 2010

This review is from: Speedo Speed Training Fin (Sports)
Got the fins this weekend. Had to wait to hit the pool Monday morning. I have huge skinny feet (15/16 B width) and they fit just fine. Not using them to improve speed, but to get better workout on kick board. Man they did the trick. My legs were tired after 200 hard yards on the kick board. I also used them for a few other strokes. In freestyle I was going so fast I could not keep my arms up to the speed I was going but they helped workout the legs, but felt weird with the arms (I am a slow swimmer). I figure if I liked them this much on the first day it can only get better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sizing and design, June 6, 2010
This review is from: Speedo Speed Training Fin (Sports)
I just put in a few laps with these today so I can't comment on long term comfort or durability, but I'd like to comment on sizing.
I have a 10.5 foot that's normal to slightly wide with a normal to high arch. These in XL (curiously stamped 13-15 on the bottom of the fin) are a comfortably snug fit on me. The foot compartment seems to be very shallow so I have to squeeze these on the sides to sort of make the foot compartment pop-up and then wedge my foot in and pull the heel strap to latch onto the heel. That's all well and good, because it needs to be snug to transfer power but, but I can't imagine anyone over 11, okay maybe 11.5, fitting into these.

I do like the open heel cup which allows me to feel the bottom of the pool but I have to agree with another poster on here that the open heel design does seem to leverage the foot towards the toes (balls of feet is where most of the foot contact occurs) thus unnecessarily loading the ankles.

Will post a follow... Read more
